Zelenskyy on battles in Kharkiv region: There are results, we destroy enemy infantry and equipment
Ukrainian defenders have achieved results in defending the Kharkiv region from the Russian advance. Brigadier General Mykhailo Drapatyi, who is responsible for this section of the front, is working on site, states Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the evening address.
Battles in the Kharkiv region
According to the head of the state, the most intense areas of the front were reported to him today, May 13th, by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, and the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov.
He mentioned that counteroffensive actions by Ukrainian defenders are continuing in the Kharkiv region. This direction, including Vovchansk and border areas, has been reinforced.
"Brigadier General Mykhailo Drapatyi is directly responsible for this direction on site; he is provided with the necessary means of impact and required forces. Currently, more and more of our results are becoming evident - we are destroying the enemy infantry and equipment," Zelenskyy added.
He thanked Ukrainian soldiers who are diligently following orders, maintaining positions, and doing everything to stabilize the situation.
Situation in other directions
The president emphasized that Ukraine understands how the enemy operates and sees the plan for withdrawing forces. However, the Donetsk directions are not left without necessary support and provision.
There is also recorded activity of Russian saboteurs against the Sumy and Chernihiv regions.
"Our task is absolutely clear - to thwart the Russian attempt to expand the war. Fulfilling this task literally depends on everyone who is currently on the front lines - from Chernihiv to Vovchansk, from Kharkiv to Donbas," he added.
Russian advance in the Kharkiv region
As a reminder, Russian occupiers began their advance on the Kharkiv region last week. They crossed the border in the northern part of the region.
Ukrainian defenders are actively engaging in combat operations and attempting to prevent the enemy's advancement towards Kharkiv.
There is a threat to the regional center, which lies in the possibility of coming under artillery shelling. The conditions under which this is possible are detailed in the material by RBC-Ukraine.
