Zelenskyy on air defense for Ukraine: Partners have 7 Patriot systems, but no determination
Ukrainian partners have 7 Patriot systems that could be transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces for self-defense, but the allies lack the determination to do so, states the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"Of course, I am grateful to all the partners who have already helped us with air defense: now every system to protect the sky, every anti-missile is literally a defense of life. And it is important that all new agreements with partners that already exist strengthen our air defense," Zelenskyy emphasized.
He noted that it is important that every initiative of friends of Ukraine to help works as quickly as possible. The same applies to the search and delivery of Patriot.
"Ukraine needs seven systems, and this is the minimum. Our partners have these Patriots. Russian terrorists see that our partners, unfortunately, do not have the same determination to protect Europe from terror as they have demonstrated in the Middle East. However, it is still possible to provide the necessary quantity and quality of air defense systems. We must not lose time - we must give the necessary signal of determination," - the President emphasized.
Patriot for Ukraine
The increase in the number of shelling and the delay in US aid have led Ukraine to face a shortage of air defense.
In particular, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that his country had found 6 Patriot systems among its partners that could be sent to Ukraine.
Spain has also joined in increasing the number of air defense systems in Ukraine. In particular, Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles said that Ukraine would receive a military aid package from Spain that would include Patriot missiles.
