Large-scale fires are still raging in California. Ukraine can help the United States fight the disaster, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on his Telegram channel.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has instructed Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko and diplomats to prepare the possibility of Ukrainian rescuers participating in the fight against fires in California.

“The situation is very difficult there, and Ukrainians can help Americans protect lives. We are currently working on this, and we have offered our assistance to the American side through the appropriate channels,” he explained.

According to the President, 150 Ukrainian rescuers have already been trained to provide the necessary assistance.

Fires in Los Angeles

On Tuesday, January 7, six fires broke out in different parts of Los Angeles. In a few days, they covered more than 36,000 acres (14,500 hectares), or 56 square miles, which is 2.5 times the area of Manhattan.

On January 8, a state of emergency was declared in California. US President Joe Biden canceled his visit to Italy because of the disaster.

The most destructive fire in the history of Los Angeles has leveled entire neighborhoods and left smoldering ruins of what were once human homes and property.

The disaster claimed the lives of at least 11 people and damaged or destroyed 10,000 buildings. At least 13 people are still missing.

Today it became known that Russian propaganda is spreading a fake video about the alleged mansions of the Ukrainian military in the United States. Ukraine denied these claims, calling them lies to discredit the Armed Forces.
