Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy today, on August 4th, held a meeting with the Republican Party's candidate for the U.S. presidency, Christopher Christie, according to the Office of the President of Ukraine.

"I would also like to sincerely thank you and your colleagues, in particular the Congress. We are grateful for the bipartisan support, which is extremely important to us. We are very grateful to President Biden and his administration," the President said.

Zelenskyy emphasized that it was of utmost importance for the United States, and all Americans, to stand on the side of truth and democracy, and they were convinced of Ukraine's victory.

Strengthening assistance

It is noted that the president highlighted the significance of further strengthening support from partners to ensure reliable defense against Russian missile terror and the successful liberation of temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories.

"The United States is a leader, providing us with the greatest support on the battlefield for our Armed Forces. And, of course, in the financial sector, which is also a powerful support," he said.

Christopher Christie shared that he had wanted to see for himself what was happening in Ukraine and to share the information obtained with American society, which greatly supported Ukraine.

Christopher James (Chris) Christie is an American politician who served as the Governor of New Jersey from 2010 to 2018. He became the first Republican to win elections in the state in 12 years.

CNN reported that the former Governor of New Jersey also visited Moschun and Bucha in the Kyiv region.

He told accompanying journalists that he had come to Ukraine because he wanted Americans to see the same things he did, so that their determination to support Ukraine remains strong.

He emphasized that the support of the United States was necessary to counter the influence of adversaries like China and Russia. Previously, Christie had criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump for not directly stating whether Ukraine should win the war against Russia.

Visits of other U.S. Presidential candidates to Ukraine

Former Vice President of the United States and Donald Trump's competitor in the presidential elections, Mike Pence, made an unexpected visit to Ukraine. He met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

He also stated that the U.S. should continue to provide military support to Ukraine, which was repelling Russia's full-scale aggression.

"It's absolutely essential that the United States continue to provide military support to the Ukrainian military to push back on Russian aggression," emphasized the 63-year-old former congressman and governor of the state of Indiana in his communication with the media.
