Zelenskyy meets Italian Prime Minister
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Ambrosetti Forum on September 7, according to the website of the President of Ukraine.
“We are very grateful to you and your team, to all the Italian people for the support you have provided us,” Zelenskyy said.
During the meeting, the president updated Meloni on the battlefield situation, recent shelling of Ukraine's civilian and critical infrastructure by Russia, and outlined Ukraine's current defense needs.
The leaders discussed steps for the practical implementation of the G7 decision to provide Ukraine with nearly $50 billion from frozen Russian assets.
Zelenskyy also highlighted Italy's decision to host the next Ukraine Recovery Conference, scheduled for 2025. Preparations for the event have already begun.
The restoration and rebuilding of Ukraine, including its energy system, were among the topics discussed during the meeting.
Special attention was given to the implementation of the Peace Formula. Italy is actively involved in the implementation of each point.
Additionally, Zelenskyy outlined Ukraine's next steps toward European integration and acknowledged Italy's support.
Zelenskyy in Italy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Italy on September 6. He came to the country directly after participating in the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
It was previously reported that on September 7, Zelenskyy met with representatives from 30 Italian companies across various industries.
