President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Denys Shmyhal to prepare a new national defense plan that takes into account the course of hostilities and updated priorities, according to the president’s Telegram channel.
"It is time to update the core documents on Ukraine’s defense, including the defense plan of our state. The course of hostilities has shown what must become the renewed priorities. We agreed that Denys will prepare detailed proposals for changes and submit them to the Cabinet of Ministers for approval," Zelenskyy said.
The president also noted that the defense minister reported on his trips to the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. The meeting also included a separate discussion on protecting critical infrastructure and allocating the necessary resources.
"It is important that the government and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine fully ensure the necessary funding for procurement, including drones for combat brigades. Yesterday, another monthly subsidy payment for combat brigades was financed in the amount of 4.3 billion hryvnias. An additional 8 billion hryvnias was also allocated to fund the Drone Line," the president added.
What is known about Ukraine's defense plan
It is noted that Ukraine’s defense plan is an important component of defense planning and consists of a set of documents that define the scope, tasks, responsible parties, procedures, and timelines for state measures aimed at preparing for armed defense and ensuring protection in the event of an armed conflict.
Ukraine’s defense plan is stipulated by the law "On the Defense of Ukraine." It is known that the defense plan is a classified document and must be implemented in the event of war by a corresponding decision of the National Security and Defense Council.
Ukraine strengthens the Drone Line
As a reminder, in March the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine launched the Drone Line project aimed at developing specialized unmanned aerial vehicle units within the Armed Forces. The project provides for scaling up combat experience.
It was also reported that the government is increasing investments in Ukrainian drones and strengthening the Defense Forces. Funds will be reallocated to meet the needs of the Ukrainian military.
Thus, 8 billion hryvnias will be reallocated for military needs, in particular for units of the Armed Forces involved in the Drone Line project and for strengthening unmanned systems in newly formed units.
