Zelenskyy hosts António Costa, Kaja Kallas for talks on Ukraine's future
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met in Kyiv with the new President of the European Council and representatives of the European Commission. The European officials visited Ukraine on their first day in office, according to the President's Telegram channel.
Zelenskyy held talks with European Council President António Costa. According to the head of state, they discussed their vision of European and global affairs, existing challenges, and future prospects.

“Such a symbolic start to their work reflects the main priorities for all of us in Europe. Peace is the foundation, and we will continue doing everything possible to end this war, launched by Russia not only against Ukraine but also against a united Europe. We must bring this war to a just conclusion and strengthen Europe—its institutions and the policies supporting every European country,” Zelenskyy said.
The President of Ukraine also held negotiations with the new High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.
The primary topic of their discussions was Ukraine’s needs for air defense systems.
“We are coordinating our efforts for the necessary shared outcomes,” Zelenskyy added.
Visit of EU leadership to Kyiv
Today, December 1, the new leadership of the European Council and European Commission began their work. On their first day, representatives of European institutions traveled to Ukraine.
The President of the European Council, António Costa, EU High Representative Kaja Kallas, and the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, visited Kyiv.
The EU high-ranking officials paid tribute to Ukraine’s fallen heroes at the Wall of Remembrance in Kyiv.
