Zelenskyy holds Supreme Commander-in-Chief meeting: Fortifications, rotations discussed
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief today. Among the discussed issues were fortification lines and rotation.
During the meeting, the president heard a report on fortifications in border regions and active combat directions. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Oleksandr Syrskyi, reported on the battlefield situation, as well as unit rotations for recovery. The pace and needs in forming new brigades were also discussed.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov reported on the schedules of arms deliveries from Ukraine's allies. Zelenskyy instructed to take all possible measures to shorten the timelines, especially for the delivery of air defense systems.
Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin reported on current production rates of drones and electronic warfare (EW) means, as well as their frontline supply.
Ukraine's main needs
As the president previously said, Russia is now trying to exploit Ukraine's anticipation of Western aid, meaning the prompt supply will signify front stabilization. According to him, the main needs of the Defense Forces currently are 155 mm caliber artillery, long-range weapons, and air defense systems.
Strengthening Ukraine's air defense has become particularly critical amid enemy mass shellings. Summarizing the results of the Ukraine-NATO Council meeting, Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said that Kyiv's allies agreed to assist in addressing the issue, so there would be announcements shortly.
