Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a new meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief today, August 30. One of the topics discussed was the defense in the Pokrovsk direction, according to the head of state on Facebook.

He mentioned that three key issues were discussed during the meeting. The first was the defense in the Pokrovsk direction. The situation there was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.

"The Commander-in-Chief separately reported on the details of the operation in the Kursk region, particularly regarding the latest replenishment of the exchange fund. This is crucial for strengthening our positions in the exchange processes," Zelenskyy noted.

The second issue discussed was the preparation of Ukrainian schools for the academic year. Reports were presented by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko, and Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi. Security issues were addressed, and an analysis of shelter construction was conducted.

"The government must understand and take personal responsibility for preparing schools in light of energy challenges," the president emphasized.

The third issue discussed was energy. The focus was on addressing the consequences of Russian attacks and analyzing certain aspects of the construction of protective armaments.

"The key task is to strengthen efforts as much as possible in each of these three areas," the head of state added.

What preceded

The situation in the Pokrovsk direction remains challenging, with the enemy concentrating its main efforts there.

In recent weeks, Russian forces have managed to advance towards Pokrovsk.

On August 19, the head of the Pokrovsk Military Administration, Serhii Dobriak, noted that residents of the city have one to two weeks to evacuate, as the situation is becoming increasingly difficult.
