Moscow's claims of a quick takeover in the east are fabrications. Russian forces are losing ground in their offensives and compensating with a flood of disinformation, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Yalta European Strategy (YES) Conference.

Zelenskyy admitted the battlefield situation is difficult due to the enemy’s numerical advantage, its use of drones, and new technologies. At the same time, he stressed that Ukraine controls the front and prevents Russian troops from achieving their stated goals, even though they outnumber Ukrainian soldiers.

"Russia is trying very hard to intensify its disinformation campaign, much more than on the battlefield. But I am confident they are using so much information about the east because they know they will break there. I think in the next day or two, we will hear completely different information. Let our military command comment on that," Zelenskyy said.

He added that Moscow is relying on information pressure because its offensives at the front are failing.

According to the president, Russian attempts to advance in the Sumy, Novopavlivka, and Pokrovsk directions ended in failure. All attacks over the past two months were stopped and destroyed by Ukrainian forces.

The president also addressed claims that Russia could capture eastern Ukraine in three months.

"What I heard in the White House that they are advancing and in three months they will occupy the east of our country is a lie. They won't be able to do it for years. But no one wants this war to drag on for years," Zelenskyy stressed.

Earlier, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin told US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff that he would take Donbas by the end of the year. Zelenskyy responded that, in reality, it would take years and millions of lives.

According to the Ukrainian president, the Kremlin is already thinking about how to end the war while trying to invent a "victory" for itself.

Meanwhile, Ukraine's Defense Intelligence (HUR) reported that Russian forces are suffering massive losses due to the professional actions of Ukraine's Defense Forces and their own incompetence. As a result, Russia is already sending cooks, drivers, drone operators, and wounded soldiers into assaults.
