President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has congratulated Karol Nawrocki on his victory in the second round of the presidential election in Poland.

"Congratulations to Karol Nawrocki on winning the presidential election. Poland, which preserves the strength of its national spirit and its faith in justice, has been and remains a pillar of regional and European security, and a strong voice defending freedom and dignity for every nation," Zelenskyy says.

He notes that "by reinforcing one another on our continent, we give greater strength to Europe in global competition and bring the achievement of real and lasting peace closer."

He also says that Ukraine looks forward to continued fruitful cooperation with Poland and, personally, with Nawrocki.

Elections in Poland

In the first round of the elections held on May 18, Rafał Trzaskowski won 31.36% of the vote, while Karol Nawrocki received 29.54%. The other 11 candidates were significantly behind the leaders.

The key point in the confrontation between Trzaskowski and Nawrocki was the debate that took place last week. During the discussion of healthcare, migration policy, and support for Ukraine, the Polish media raised suspicions about Nawrocki's possible drug use, which caused a loud response in society.
