Following the negotiations, the Presidents of Ukraine and the U.S. will hold a press conference for journalists.
Plans for the meeting with Biden
According to the Office of the President of Ukraine, in talks with the U.S. President, Zelenskyy will focus on ensuring the unity of the US, Europe, and the world around supporting Ukraine in defending against Russian aggression.
Among the key negotiation topics will be the continuation of defense cooperation between Ukraine and the U.S., specifically joint projects on arms production and air defense systems, along with coordinating efforts between Zelenskyy and Biden for the upcoming year.
Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has noted that the leaders of both countries will also discuss Ukraine's urgent needs and crucial further support from the US at this critical moment.
Zelenskyy's visit to the U.S.
Over the weekend, Zelenskyy traveled to Argentina to attend the inauguration of the new President Javier Milei, who declared support for Ukraine. After participating in the inauguration, the Ukrainian President announced his visit to the U.S., not just to meet with Biden.
Zelenskyy's visit to the U.S. occurs amid the consideration in Congress of Biden's request for additional funding to support Ukraine. Due to domestic political differences in the U.S., the allocation of funds for Ukraine has been blocked. As part of his visit to the U.S., Zelenskyy planned to meet with representatives of Congress, including House Speaker Mike Johnson.
