Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Ukraine is preparing new sanctions packages against those who help Russia wage war. Kyiv has already discussed the new restrictions with its partners.

"We have discussed this with our partners. We know that our partners have heard us. We are moving forward. We are preparing our sanction packages, including against individuals and schemes in third countries that, unfortunately, help Russia bypass some sanctions," said the Ukrainian president.

Zelenskyy added that Ukraine is also continuing to strengthen its defense and expects significant defense packages from its partners very soon.

"We are also making decisions regarding further cooperation — cooperation with key countries during the war and in the post-war period. We are laying the groundwork for reconstruction," he summarized.

Earlier, Zelenskyy signed a sanction package against the head of Rosatom, Alexey Likhachev, the son of Ukrainian former Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, and a number of other individuals and companies. As the president explained, this decision synchronizes Ukrainian and global sanctions against Russia.

Zelenskyy also signed sanctions against a number of Ukrainian citizens, including Oleksiy Arestovych, who previously worked in the Office of the President. These restrictions, Zelenskyy explained, were due to these individuals aligning themselves with Russian propaganda, justifying the war, and harming Ukraine.
