Russia strikes Dnipro train platform, kills two teenage girls in Chernihiv: Aftermath revealed

The Russian army launched a series of strikes on civilian targets in Dnipro, Chernihiv, Kremenchuk, and Zaporizhzhia on October 29. The attacks left dozens of people dead and injured, including children.
RBC-Ukraine has compiled the key details about the consequences of the Russian attacks on these cities.
Strike on Dnipro railway station
At around 11 a.m. on October 29, Russian forces struck the railway station in Dnipro with a jet-powered drone. A local electric train and a passenger train were at the station at the time.
The strike hit the platform where passenger train No. 866, traveling from Dnipro to Zaporizhzhia, was standing, according to Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukraine’s state railway operator.
As Ukrzaliznytsia explained, an elevated threat level had been announced before the strike. However, a large number of people remained on the platform.
The Eastern Air Command reported that Russian forces had launched four jet-powered drones at Dnipropetrovsk region in total. Three were destroyed, while one hit the platform.
At least 14 people have been reported killed and 14 injured in Dnipro.

According to the director general of Mechnikov Hospital, quoted by Suspilne, six people are in extremely critical condition. The injured have dozens of shrapnel wounds across their bodies. Four are already undergoing surgery, while doctors are trying to stabilize two others before operating on them.

Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration head Oleksandr Hanzha clarified that those seriously injured include an 11-year-old boy, men aged 40 and 53, and a 26-year-old woman.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to Russia’s latest act of terror by publishing footage from the scene.

He stressed that the strike was further proof that sanctions pressure on the aggressor country must not be eased.
“Just how many terrorist strikes has Russia carried out against our people since sanctions were lifted on certain Russian oligarchs and the Russian energy sector, rather than de-escalating? This is precisely why Ukraine has always said that just and decisive action by America and Europe is needed in response to Russian escalation – sanctions against Moscow and its war machine must not be eased for as long as this Russian war continues. It is time for new, stronger sanctions steps by the EU, the United States, and the G7,” the president emphasized.
Attack on central Chernihiv
Russian forces launched a Banderol missile-drone at Chernihiv, striking the very center of the city.

Cars and stores caught fire at the scene, and apartments in nearby buildings were damaged.

“During the day, the enemy struck Chernihiv with a Banderol. Right in the city center. At a time when the streets were crowded,” Chernihiv Regional Military Administration head Viacheslav Chaus wrote.

The attack killed two children — girls who were just 15 years old. At least 23 other people were injured, including three children.

Among those injured were four children aged 10 months, 10, 16 and 17.
The strike also prompted changes to public transportation on Peremohy Avenue. Vehicles are currently being diverted around the damaged section.
Apartment building hit in Kremenchuk
On the same day, Russian forces struck a residential area in the city of Kremenchuk in Poltava region.
A Russian drone hit a multi-story residential building, damaging apartments. Cars caught fire in the courtyard of the residential buildings.

Minibus hit in Zaporizhzhia
In central Zaporizhzhia, Russian forces struck a passenger minibus with an FPV drone.
One person has been reported injured, according to Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration head Mykhailo Semikin, who also shared photos of the aftermath.
