Zelenskyy and Trump could agree on Ukraine-Russia ceasefire, Ukraine's FM says

According to the diplomat, Ukraine is indeed ready for an energy ceasefire with Russia.

Sybiha noted that the US authorities could be the ones to push Moscow toward the right decision.

"We are preparing for President Zelenskyy's meeting with President Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, and I believe that one of the main outcomes of this meeting could be reaching a ceasefire," Ukraine's Foreign Minister stressed.

Moreover, Sybiha clarified that this could involve both an energy ceasefire and a halt to attacks in the Black Sea.

The diplomat once again reminded Russia and the international community that Ukraine wants to end this war.

"We have proposals, we have a vision of how to move toward this. We need the support of the world and need to forget any illusions about Russia's good intentions. Russia understands only pressure," Sybiha concluded.

What are the chances of an "energy ceasefire" between Ukraine and Russia?

The day before, US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine and Russia had allegedly reached an agreement to stop strikes on energy infrastructure.

Against the backdrop of recent developments, Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on Moscow to provide a list of facilities it would like to protect from Ukrainian attacks as part of a possible "energy ceasefire."

In addition, the Ukrainian president stressed the need to establish a clear mechanism that would ensure Russia complies with all the terms.

The Kremlin, for its part, responded positively to Trump's proposal to halt strikes on energy facilities.

The problem is that Moscow has still not made any corresponding decisions.
