Zelenskyy and Erdogan discuss 'grain deal' and upcoming Peace Formula talks in Malta
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Among other things, they discussed the Peace Formula talks regarding Ukraine, scheduled to take place at the end of October in Malta, according to the head of the state's tweet.
"I spoke with Recep Tayyip Erdogan to thank Türkiye for persistently supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity," he stated.
During the negotiations, they discussed the next round of peace talks in Malta.
"Türkiye will participate, adding its authoritative voice and stance," emphasized Zelenskyy.
In addition, the leaders of the two countries discussed food security.
"Despite Russia’s disruption of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, Ukraine remains committed to its vital role as a global food security guarantor and enables the functioning of the Black Sea grain corridor," Zelenskyy stated.
Ukraine and Türkiye's presidents also discussed the situation in the Middle East and reached a consensus on the need to ensure the protection of civilians and the observance of humanitarian law.
Peace Summit on Ukraine in Malta
Malta will host peaceful negotiations regarding Ukraine, attended by advisors to the heads of state. The meeting will take place on October 28 and 29.
