Zelenskyy says Ukraine will get warships to protect grain corridor
Ukraine arranged to receive warships to protect ships in the Black Sea's grain corridor, states Zelenskyy referring to a joint press conference with the presidents of Switzerland, Latvia, and the prime minister of Lithuania.
According to him, Ukraine considers the creation of a "grain corridor" without Russia to be one of the biggest achievements of the year.
From now on, Kyiv is working to ensure the safety of the ships that sail through.
"We have agreed with our partners and will accompany the merchant ships at sea to ensure their safety. We already have specific arrangements to receive the warships. This is a matter of the near future," Zelenskyy said.
Russian blockade of the sea
In July this year, Russia announced its withdrawal from the grain deal. At the same time, Russian invaders began shelling Ukrainian ports and Ukraine's grain infrastructure.
After that, Ukraine decided to launch exports without Russia's participation in the grain deal being renewed.
The Russians are doing their best to obstruct the grain corridor. In particular, they are dropping bombs near the route.
