Zelenskyy approves key military leave law: What changes for servicemen

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a law that guarantees servicemen monetary compensation for all unused vacation days in case of discharge from service, according to the Verkhovna Rada.
It is noted that this concerns both main and additional vacations.
"In case of a serviceman's death, the compensation will be received by the persons indicated in his directive. If there are none, the funds are passed on by inheritance," it is stated in the Telegram channel of the Rada.
The new rules will come into force one month from the day following the official publication of the law.
Vacation for servicemen
During martial law, Ukrainian soldiers have the right to 30 days of annual vacation, but it is not always possible to use all the days in time:
- due to combat conditions;
- due to the lack of personnel in units;
- amid other reasons.
At the same time, unused vacation days cannot be carried over to the next year.
