WTA 125 Limoges, Quarterfinal
Anhelina Kalinina (Ukraine) – Alycia Parks (USA) – 7:5, 1:6, 6:3
How the match unfolded
In the quarterfinal, the Ukrainian faced the No. 5 seed, American Alycia Parks (WTA 85). The match lasted just over two hours.
The first set was closely contested, and only at the end did Kalinina tilt the balance in her favor, making a break and holding serve to win it 7:5.
The second set did not go well for Kalinina at all – she trailed 0:5 at one point and lost 1:6. But in the third set, she looked much more confident. After taking a point on her opponent’s first service game, she capitalized on this advantage and closed out the set and the match – 6:3.
First semifinal since January
This is Kalinina’s first semifinal appearance since the beginning of the year. She last reached this stage in January 2025 at the WTA 500 tournament in Brisbane.
In Limoges, Kalinina is playing her first tournament after a long break, since June 2025, when she was forced to withdraw from the event in Bari due to injury.
She opened her campaign with a confident win over Liechtenstein’s Kathinka von Deichmann (6:2, 6:2), and in the second round defeated fourth seed Sonay Kartal of the UK in three sets (7:6, 1:6, 6:1).
Her semifinal opponent will be determined in the match between Cristina Bucșa (Spain, WTA 54) and Antonia Ružić (Croatia, WTA 73).
Good memories of Limoges
The Limoges tournament runs from December 8 to 14. This is Kalinina’s third appearance at the event.
In 2022, she won the title here, defeating Denmark’s Clara Tauson in a three-set final. This remains her only career WTA-level title to date.
