Witkoff to visit Russia, Trump confirms

US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff, will visit Russia, states Trump while speaking with journalists.
During the conversation, Trump reiterated that the US will impose sanctions against Russia, though he expressed doubt that they would have any real impact on Russian President Vladimir Putin.
He then revealed Witkoff’s travel plans, stating that following his visit to the Middle East, Witkoff will head to Russia.
“And then he's going to Russia. Believe it or not,” Trump said.
No additional details about Witkoff’s upcoming trip were disclosed.
Witkoff’s visit to Russia
Steve Witkoff’s most recent known visit to Russia took place in April of this year, during which he met with Russia’s ambassador for investment affairs, Kirill Dmitriev.
During the same trip, the special envoy also met with Vladimir Putin. More details about his visit to Russia can be found in an RBC-Ukraine report.
As reported by Reuters, Witkoff later told Trump that the fastest path to peace in Ukraine would allegedly be to grant Russia ownership over four eastern Ukrainian regions.
