The special envoy of US President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, claims that the latest negotiations have achieved significant progress on ending the war in Ukraine during a press briefing.

According to Witkoff, the Ukrainian side told him that the most progress has been made recently "since Geneva." He added that this progress is the greatest achieved in the four years of war.

"We had four Russian generals last Sunday in Abu Dhabi with Jared and I and Dan Driscoll. We think we made a lot of progress," he said.

Witkoff confirmed that the next round of negotiations will take place "in about a week." However, he said that currently "lots of good things happening between the counterparties discussing the land deal," referring to the territorial issue.

Recently, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will not participate in the new round of negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine. The meeting will take place only between Ukraine and Russia.

Last weekend in the UAE, the first trilateral talks between Ukraine, Russia, and the US took place. They received a positive assessment from the American side. Ukraine also described the first trilateral talks in the Emirates as substantive. The next meeting is scheduled for February 1.
