Most people are used to putting butter in the refrigerator immediately after returning from the store, but experts say this habit should be changed.

Where this dairy product should actually be stored is explained by Daily Express.

Where butter should be stored

Waste management experts from Wheeldon Brothers note that due to its low moisture, protein, and carbohydrate content, butter is a highly unfavorable environment for the growth of bacteria and mold.

This especially applies to salted butter. The key to safety lies in proper storage.

The product must never be left in the open or in its original paper wrapping. It should always be kept in a special butter dish with a tight-fitting lid, away from direct sunlight, windows, or a hot oven.

This way, butter will remain soft and ready to use, significantly reducing waste caused by spoiled or overly hard product that would otherwise need to be melted in a microwave.

Tips for storing eggs

At the same time, egg storage rules are completely different. Head of food safety Fiona Sullivan emphasizes that eggs must be stored exclusively in the refrigerator and preferably not removed from their original cardboard packaging.

Eggshells have microscopic pores through which bacteria and foreign odors from other foods can easily enter, while the cardboard acts as a reliable protective barrier.

To quickly check egg freshness, simply place it in a bowl of water: if it stays at the bottom, the product is completely safe to consume.

If there is a need to store eggs for a longer period, they can be cracked, whisked, and safely frozen in an airtight container.
