Key issues related to ending the war must be resolved at the leaders' level. However, a phone call between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian leader Vladimir Putin would not be enough to reach an agreement, Dmytro Lytvyn, an adviser to the Ukrainian president on communications, reports.

Asked about the possibility of a phone conversation between Zelenskyy and Putin, Lytvyn noted that Russia has repeatedly raised the idea of a phone call or a meeting in Moscow.

According to him, Russia is trying to avoid the need for a trilateral format involving the leaders.

"It is logical that key issues should be resolved at the leaders' level. But this requires an actual meeting, as well as the relevant discussion, agreements, and guarantees — something that is obviously difficult to achieve through a phone call alone," Zelenskyy's adviser stressed.

As a reminder, the Kremlin previously claimed that Russian leader Vladimir Putin was supposedly ready to speak by phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but that "no one has called yet."

Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov also said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy could travel to Moscow for a meeting with the Kremlin leader, "where all the necessary conditions would be provided, including in terms of security."

In response, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said such statements should not be taken seriously.
