A forest fire in the Kharkiv region has destroyed an entire village. There are casualties as a result of the large-scale fire, according to Serhii Bolvinov, head of the Investigation Department of the Kharkiv Regional Police.

The forest fire destroyed more than a thousand houses.

“4 people were burned alive. 2 displaced women, one local woman and one man. They simply did not have time to escape - the flames were spreading at a frantic pace,” Bolvinov said.

He clarified that the fire came from the Donetsk region - from the direction of Rubtsi village, and then spread to Borivske forestry.

The wildfire engulfed the Chervonooskilskyi landscape park and then began to approach the village of Pisky-Radkivski. In this area, on the territory of one of the charitable foundations, people died and two more were burned.

“Also, about 1,100 wooden houses burned down in the forest and near it, and 60 people were evacuated,” the police representative added.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by law enforcement, and it is possible that Russian shelling caused the fire.

Forest fires caused by Russian shelling

This is not the first time that the actions of the Russian occupation forces have caused large-scale forest fires in Ukraine. Forests in Donetsk and Kharkiv regions were burning due to Russian shelling.

Also today, on October 3, significant smoke was noticed in Sumy. According to local authorities, it was caused by forest fires caused by Russian shelling.
