The morning vote for the new Pope was unsuccessful. Black smoke, as on May 7, rose above the Sistine Chapel on May 8, according to Sky News.

"Black smoke is rising from the chimney above the Sistine Chapel. This means that the wait for the new Pope continues," the publication writes.

As journalists note, judging by everything, the morning vote was unsuccessful in electing the new Pope.

Election of the new Pope

After the death of Pope Francis on April 21, his funeral took place five days later. And already on May 7, the conclave began in the Vatican — the closed gathering of cardinals at which the new Pope is elected.

However, as a result of the first vote, it was not possible to come to an agreement: black smoke rose from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel, which meant there was no decision.

However, on May 8, a new pontiff will appear. Journalists found out the details of the second day of voting and the atmosphere at the closed conclave. Four voting rounds are planned for today — two in the morning and two in the afternoon. The morning rounds have already taken place and brought no results.

Let us add that several cardinals are contenders for the position of Pope, the most discussed of whom during the last night in the Vatican.
