US authorities want to conduct a "shake-up" at the Pentagon due to the low level of trust in the American military, according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

Journalists asked Leavitt why US President Donald Trump decided to dismiss Charles Brown from the position of Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman.

"He thinks he’s doing a bad job. They failed seven audits in a row, the trust in our United States military, amongst the warfighters, is low. The President is shaking up the Pentagon, and he has the right to do such a thing," she replied.

It is worth noting that Trump described Brown as a "fine gentleman"

Brown became the first Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to be directly dismissed from his position with just a few years left in his term.

President Donald Trump decided to appoint Lieutenant General John Daniel Caine of the US Air Force to replace him.
