The White House has launched a new section on its official website that publicly criticizes the media and journalists, accusing them of misrepresenting events and being “biased,” according to The Guardian.
The project features a list of Media Offenders of the Week and a separate Hall of Shame.
At the top of the page, a banner reads: “Misleading. Biased. Exposed.” Among the weekly offenders, the administration included Boston Globe, CBS News, and The Independent, claiming they allegedly misinterpreted statements by US President Donald Trump regarding six Democrats who released a video urging the military not to follow illegal orders.
The scandal erupted after Trump accused Democrats on social media of inciting behavior punishable by death. He also reposted a statement saying: “Hang them.”
The website claims that Democrats and fake news media insidiously suggested that President Trump was giving illegal orders to the military and asserts that every order he gave was lawful. It also calls for holding members of Congress accountable who the US president’s team believes are encouraging disobedience in the United States Armed Forces.
A separate section is dedicated to the so-called Offender Hall of Shame, which includes Washington Post, CBS News, CNN, and MSNBC (MS Now). Users are offered a database of articles with specified authors and labels such as bias, professional negligence, or leftist lunacy. The offender ranking is led by the Washington Post, followed by MSNBC and CBS News.
Examples include a Washington Post article about a possible decision by the US Coast Guard to remove the swastika and noose from the list of hate symbols. After the article, the agency revised its position, and the newspaper emphasized in a follow-up piece: “The Washington Post is proud of its accurate, rigorous journalism.”
In addition to the Media Offenders of the Week, the page also features Associated Press, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Politico, and Axios - all accused by the White House of bias or spreading disinformation.
According to the publication, the launch of the new section is another step in Trump’s long-standing campaign against the media. Previously, he filed lawsuits against the Wall Street Journal and New York Times, reached settlements with ABC and CBS, and called major media outlets enemies of the people.
In recent weeks, the US leader has also intensified personal attacks on female journalists. Earlier this month, he called a Bloomberg News correspondent a pig over a question about Epstein files and an ABC News journalist a terrible person after a question regarding the Jamal Khashoggi case.
Last week on Truth Social, Trump called a New York Times reporter a third-rate journalist, ugly inside and out, responding to a story about his alleged loss of energy at age 80.
Just days ago, the US president also rudely asked a journalist, “Are you stupid?” in response to a question about why he accuses his predecessor Joe Biden of the armed attack on National Guard members by an Afghan-born individual.
