US President’s Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, will travel to Moscow later this week to continue talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, stated White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt during a briefing.

She said she had just been in the Oval Office during a conversation between President Donald Trump and Steve Witkoff. Leavitt noted that they wanted everyone to know that the negotiations are ongoing.

"We feel again, we're hopefully moving in the right direction. And the Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff, will be heading to Russia again later this week to continue talks with Vladimir Putin," the White House Press Secretary said.

Witkoff’s visit to Moscow

Earlier today, the Kremlin announced that the US Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, may visit Moscow later this week. However, no specific date was given, and it remains unclear whether Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with him.

Witkoff previously met with Putin on April 11. Their meeting lasted nearly five hours, with Ukraine being the primary focus of the talks.

Following that meeting, Witkoff stated that the key to a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine lies in the issue of the five territories.
