White House comments on alleged Russian plot to assassinate Zelenskyy
The news of an assassination attempt on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that was to be organized by Russian agents is disturbing, according to White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
Jean-Pierre says this is certainly very disturbing news.
She also notes that the US authorities are glad that such an attempt was prevented.
Background
Yesterday, on May 7, the Security Service of Ukraine announced that it had managed to prevent an assassination attempt on President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as well as on SSU Head Vasyl Maliuk and Chief of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov.
In particular, two colonels of the State Protection Department were detained. They were allegedly recruited by the Russian Federal Security Service.

At the same time, on April 18, a Russian agent who could have been preparing an assassination attempt on Zelenskyy was detained in Poland. The man was exposed by Ukrainian and Polish law enforcement officers.
