One of the leaders in Ukraine's national athletics team, long jumper Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk, has spoken out for the first time in a long while. She shared her emotional message on Instagram, where she opened up about her experiences. The athlete is currently suspended from competitions over alleged violations of anti-doping regulations.

What Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk said to her fans

After a long pause on social media that left many of her fans concerned, Maryna addressed her followers to reassure them and explain how she’s feeling.

"Friends, I'm doing okay. As much as it's possible during this period of my life!" the athlete wrote.

While she didn't explicitly mention the doping case, her words clearly hinted at the difficult situation she's currently facing.

"You know what hardships I'm going through right now, and it's impossible not to be affected by them… I never thought something like this could happen to me. That I'd have to prove my honesty and humanity," she shared.

She admitted that she's searching for answers to tough questions: "Why is this happening? Where is justice?"

Despite the emotional toll, Maryna is trying to remain optimistic and keep faith in a better future.

"I truly believe this is the path to something better and new, that a higher power knows what's best for me. Sometimes doors close so that new ones can open," she concluded.

What's happening with Bekh-Romanchuk's case

As a reminder, in late spring 2025, the Athletics Integrity Unit announced the temporary suspension of Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk from all competitions. The reason was the discovery of a banned substance in one of her doping samples.

Bekh-Romanchuk and her team firmly deny any intentional use of banned substances. Their main defense is that the substance entered her system through a contaminated supplement.

The investigation is still ongoing, and its outcome will determine the future of one of Ukraine's most successful athletes. Because of the suspension, she has already missed several key competitions this season.

After the scandal broke, Maryna hinted that the situation could be a turning point in her life, possibly leading to difficult decisions she once feared to take.

"I know for sure my life won't be the same. I'll have to make decisions I used to be afraid of, but now the time has come," she previously wrote on Instagram.

Meanwhile, fans are flooding her comment sections with messages of support, wishing her strength and expressing faith in a positive resolution to her case.
