When to go to bed to lose weight: Coach's advice
Everyone knows that a good night's sleep is crucial for our health, but not everyone realizes just how important it is. Lack of sleep increases appetite, hunger, and cravings for high-calorie foods, while also impairing behavioral control, negatively affecting body weight, according to coach Viktor Mandziak.
When to go to bed
Viktor explains that humans have a pineal gland that produces the sleep hormone melatonin. This happens at night when there is no sunlight.
While we are awake, adenosine accumulates in the brain, a substance responsible for fatigue. If you stay awake for, say, 16 hours, adenosine builds up.
When you go to sleep, the sleep hormone melatonin is synthesized.
The trainer emphasizes that a person needs to sleep for at least 8 hours, and when you choose to do so is up to you. It is also crucial to go to bed at the same time every day.
"It’s not important when you go to bed, it's the regularity and sufficiency of sleep that matters for your health. You should go to bed at the same time every night and get enough sleep," Mandziak said.
According to the expert, you can start your morning at any hour that is comfortable for you, but the main condition is to get enough sleep.
