Fillers can instantly restore freshness and volume to the face, but what happens in 10, 20, or 30 years? Excessive use of injections in youth can lead to serious problems later in life, explains Ukrainian dermatologist and cosmetologist Dariia Tishchenko.

What happens if you overuse fillers in youth

According to the expert, excessive use of fillers can cause unpleasant changes in the future.

Facial deformation

A large amount of fillers alters the contours of the face and creates an unnatural appearance.

Excessive use of fillers can change the natural structure of the skin, as it may become dependent on the support provided by the fillers. As a result, even after the fillers dissolve, the skin may not return to its previous state.

Excessive puffiness

With the injection of a large amount of fillers, the face will swell and, over time, may resemble that of people who abuse alcohol.

With excessive use of fillers, unnatural facial contours may appear. As you age, these changes can become even more pronounced due to skin changes (such as loss of moisture or elasticity).

Filler migration

If fillers are of poor quality or improperly injected, they can shift, forming lumps and asymmetry, which require correction.

Psychological dependence

A constant pursuit of perfection can affect self-esteem and mental health. To avoid these risks, use fillers consciously and only with an experienced doctor.

How often you can inject fillers

The frequency of filler injections depends on the type of product, the area being treated, and the individual characteristics of the patient. Typically, hyaluronic acid-based fillers require touch-ups every 6–12 months, as they are broken down by the body.

Intervals between procedures mustn't be too short, as this can lead to tissue overload.

It is recommended to consult an experienced doctor who can determine the optimal timing for corrections, taking into account your needs and the results of previous procedures.
