'We were ready': Ukrainian Armed Forces tell about massive enemy offensive in Kharkiv region
Today, on December 1, Russian invaders began to conduct massive offensives in the Kharkiv region, using armored vehicles. However, this did not come as a surprise to the Ukrainian defenders; the fighting had begun, and the enemy had already suffered losses, reports the 42nd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The soldiers said that on Sunday, in the area of their brigade's responsibility, “the enemy launched a massive offensive in the Kharkiv region.”
“We were ready for the offensive. We are repelling it. The fighting continues,” the 42nd Brigade said in a statement.
In addition, the soldiers of the 42nd Brigade said that the minimum confirmed losses of the Russian invaders during the repulsion of the offensive amounted to:
- 13 militants were killed and 27 wounded,
- 2 T-62 tanks were destroyed and 2 more were damaged,
- 2 units of the enemy's BMP-3 were destroyed, and 1 Russian armored personnel carrier was also damaged.
“We continue to fulfill our tasks,” the 42nd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine added and released footage from the battle, including how enemy forces were being hit by drones in the Kharkiv region.
The enemy tried to advance near Starytsia and Buhruvatka
According to the interactive map DeepStateMap update, this enemy offensive took place in the area of Starytsia and Buhruvatka, Kharkiv region. It was stopped by the soldiers of the 42nd Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The project also says that “the assault was more serious” and the enemy gathered “a fairly substantial group” in those areas.
Situation at the front on December 1
Earlier, the report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the operational situation as of 16.00 stated that in the Kharkiv sector, the Armed Forces repelled 6 enemy attacks near Starytsia, Tykhyi and Vovchansk, and 1 more battle is ongoing.
The military command also noted that, in general, the Russians are still focusing their efforts on the Kurakhove, Pokrovsk, and Vremivka directions, as well as in the Kursk region.
In November, there was information about cross-border raids by Russian invaders in the Kharkiv region. In particular, it was reported that the enemy attacked the village of Kozacha Lopan.
However, on November 26, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), Andrii Kovalenko, denied the information about the Russian offensive on this village.
