War in Ukraine could end along current front line, presidential office chief says

The most realistic scenario for ending the war involves a cessation of hostilities with security guarantees for Ukraine, according to an interview with Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Presidential Office, on Latvian Television.
The most realistic option for ending the war, or at least halting the fighting, could be to stop along the actual front line as it stands on the day an agreement important to Ukraine is reached. This view was expressed by Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Presidential Office.
"My subjective opinion is that the most realistic option for ending the war, or at least halting the fighting, is along the actual front line as it stands on the day an agreement is reached, with security guarantees for Ukraine," he said.
Budanov stressed that this would mean halting the fighting without any legal recognition by Ukraine of giving up territories.
"That will not happen, and no one will do that," the head of the Presidential Office added.
On September 6, Trump's special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Kyiv for the first time.
The day before, they held a three-hour meeting with Putin in Moscow. According to the US president, the envoys brought a proposal to end the war, while the upcoming winter was discussed extensively during the talks in Kyiv.
