At least three volunteers who fought for Ukraine have been summoned for questioning in Georgia, according to Georgian volunteer Nadim Khmaladze on Facebook.

"I, Nadim Khmaladze, am accused of terrorism and a coup d'état. How cool is that?" he wrote.

In a comment to the publication Batumelebi, Khmaladze said that two other fighters, Vazha Tsertsadze and Lasha Chigladze, were also summoned for questioning on the same charges.

"I got a call from an unknown number. The caller greeted me and informed me that I was being summoned for questioning. I told him that I would come to the interrogation in the presence of a judge. 'Then sign that you refuse to be questioned, and we will submit a petition to the judge, and you will be questioned that way,'" Khmaladze said.

In March 2023, media reported that Khmaladze was detained during protests in Tbilisi. His lawyer stated that at the time, Khmaladze was giving an interview and could not have committed any offense.

Khmaladze believes that the volunteers are being intimidated.

Another volunteer, Lasha Chigladze, has already been questioned. His lawyers noted that during the interrogation, he was asked about his time in Ukraine.

It is worth noting that many Georgian citizens have stood up to defend Ukraine against Russian aggression. The Georgian Legion was also formed in Ukraine and is participating in combat operations against Russian occupation forces.

Recently, it was reported that Georgian volunteer Zurab Iashvili died while defending Ukraine. He was wounded and died in a hospital in the Lviv region.
