Vladimir Putin says Israel agreed not to target Russian nuclear personnel in Iran

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the Kremlin has an agreement not to strike Russian specialists working on the construction of the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran, according to remarks made during a press conference at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The Russian leader stated that, at one time, Russia took over a project in Iran that had originally been carried out by German companies and signed a contract to build two additional units at the Bushehr nuclear power plant.
“Work is ongoing, and our specialists are on site — more than 200 people. We reached an agreement with the Israeli leadership that their safety would be ensured,” Putin said.
The Bushehr nuclear power plant operates on uranium produced in Russia and is under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Israeli military operation against Iran
On June 13, the Israeli armed forces launched a large-scale military operation against Iran’s nuclear facilities, codenamed Lion’s Pride.
As part of the offensive, dozens of military and strategic targets were struck, several commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were eliminated, along with scientists involved in Iran’s nuclear program.
In recent days, both sides have engaged in an intense exchange of strikes: Israel and Iran have been launching drone and missile attacks, alternating between periods of escalation and relative calm.
The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) provided detailed information about the Iranian nuclear program facilities that were targeted during the military operation.
