Usyk vs. Fury: Top insider reveals the final date of the unification fight
The teams of American heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury and Ukrainian heavyweight boxer Oleksandr Usyk have agreed upon a date for their fight to determine the absolute world champion, as announced by an ESPN journalist.
The unification bout is set for February 2024 in the city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Usyk and Fury inked a boxing crown contract in late September, with a potential fight date of December 23. However, after Fury's strenuous mixed martial arts fight against Ngannou, the plans had to be changed.
Despite winning by decision of the judges, the "Gypsy King" spent all 10 rounds in the ring, and Fury was knocked down and received at least two cuts. Usyk's team proposed holding the fight in December, while the British boxer's entourage preferred the beginning of 2024.
Promoter Bob Arum previously disclosed the situation with the prize pool of the fight. Fury and Usyk will not share the fee, as each boxer agreed on the amount of prize money separately. The intermediary declined to reveal the specific earnings of the heavyweights.
Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship in February in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, sources told ESPN.
