Usyk shares his prediction for Fury vs. Joshua fight
Oleksandr Usyk, after his fight with Tyson Fury, gave his prediction regarding the winner of a potential bout between the "Gypsy King" (Tyson Fury's nickname - ed.) and his compatriot Anthony Joshua, whom the Ukrainian had already defeated. Ukrainian boxer shares his thoughts in an interview on the YouTube channel Boxing King Media.
Thus, journalists asked the Ukrainian boxer two questions: who was the tougher opponent overall, and who would be the favorite in a fight between Fury and Joshua?
Usyk answered that Fury was the tougher opponent over 24 rounds, but he believes that Joshua could win, "maybe on points."
The Fury vs. Joshua fight could take place in 2025 at Wembley Stadium in London. Both boxers will approach the confrontation after losses: Anthony lost to Daniel Dubois in September, while Tyson, as we know, was defeated by the Ukrainian champion on the night of December 22.
It is worth mentioning that the Fury vs. Joshua fight is currently hypothetical. After his defeat to "The Cat" (Oleksandr Usyk's nickname - ed.), Fury gave an ambiguous response when asked about his future during the post-fight press conference.
"Maybe you will still see my fights… Or maybe not," said Tyson, hinting at a possible end to his career.
By the way, if the British decides to quit boxing, experts believe that this would be a logical decision: the two-time heavyweight champion has already cemented his name in history by defeating legendary fighters like Wladimir Klitschko and Deontay Wilder.
At the same time, The Sun, citing sources, writes that the 36-year-old boxer has not made a final decision. Allegedly, after the fiasco in Riyadh, Fury told his close friends: "This is not the end."
Head of Matchroom Boxing Eddie Hearn told reporters that the Fury vs. Joshua fight at Wembley Stadium would be "the biggest fight in the history of British boxing that everyone would want to see."
"I will ask Turki Al Alshikh to help arrange this fight," said the promoter.
In fact, the Fury vs. Joshua fight was planned for December 2022 when the "Gypsy King" was still the WBC heavyweight champion. However, negotiations for the fight fell through, and instead, Fury defended his title in a fight against Derek Chisora at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Joshua's last fight took place in September, when he lost to Daniel Dubois in the fifth round for the IBF title.
Dubois is likely to fight Usyk (if he defeats New Zealander Joseph Parker on February 22, 2025) for the title of undisputed world champion.
Their first meeting in August 2023 ended with Usyk's victory by knockout in the ninth round. However, the 27-year-old British still considers that defeat unjust and seeks a rematch, which he told Usyk directly in the ring after the Ukrainian's fight with Fury
