Usyk's ring robe carries family symbols and tribute to Ukraine's military

Oleksandr Usyk walked into the ring for his fight with Dubois wearing a unique robe by the Italian brand Stone Island, drawing special attention from fashion observers. As it turned out, there was more behind this athletic look than just style. Usyk explains what his sports outfit meant in an interview with Hypebeast.
Usyk's Stone Island robe
The boxer walked to the ring in a robe designed especially for him. He was accompanied by his team, who wore matching jackets.
At first glance, the metallic-gray robe had a restrained appearance. However, it actually held special meaning.
The outfit was made from the brand's signature Nylon Metal fabric, which gives the material its characteristic iridescent sheen.
It was decorated with a pixelated print, the design of which was inspired by real pixelated camouflage.
What meanings were on Usyk's robe
The robe had not only aesthetic value but also symbolic significance. According to the boxer, every outfit he wears in the ring carries a message.
"Most often, it's a message about my faith, my values, and my country [Ukraine]. That's exactly how it was this time. Stone Island and I worked together for a long time, putting in a lot of thought and effort into the design and creation of the outfit. In the end, it turned out just right," he shared.
The unique pattern by Stone Island consists of a specially created pixel alphabet that symbolizes the names of Usyk's family members..
Thus, the athlete entered the ring with a symbol of support, strength, and motivation from his closest loved ones.

The boxer often says that family is one of his main sources of support in life and a source of inspiration.
"During training camps, I spend long stretches away from my wife and children, so I wanted them to be with me symbolically when I walked into the ring. That lifted my fighting spirit incredibly," he noted.
Usyk also emphasized that the pixel pattern is a gesture of respect for the defenders of Ukraine, to whom he dedicated his victory.
"These are the people who protect my loved ones. Their support means the world to me. And I know my victory meant a lot to them. When I entered the ring, I wanted to remember exactly why I fight, and who I fight for," the athlete added.
