Usyk loses No. 1 spot: The Ring updates world's best boxer rankings

The authoritative boxing magazine The Ring has published an updated pound-for-pound (P4P) ranking. Ukrainian heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk lost his top spot, giving way to American Terence Crawford, The Ring reports.
Crawford becomes No. 1
On September 14, Terence Crawford (42-0, 31 KOs) defeated Mexican Saul "Canelo" Álvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs) by unanimous decision.
This victory allowed him to become the undisputed world champion at super middleweight and the first boxer in the four-belt era to unify championship titles in three different weight divisions.
After this win, Crawford topped The Ring's P4P ranking, moving Oleksandr Usyk down from first place.
Usyk drops to second place
Ukrainian undisputed heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) first reached the top of the ranking in May 2024 after defeating Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs). However, the updated version of the list now places him in second position.
Third place in the ranking went to undefeated Japanese super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue (31-0, 27 KOs). He recently defended his titles in a fight against former Uzbek champion Murodjon Akhmadaliev (14-2, 11 KOs).

What is P4P ranking
The pound-for-pound (P4P) ranking is a conditional list of the best boxers in the world regardless of weight class.
When compiling it, experts consider the level of skill, number of championship titles, quality of opponents, and achievements across different divisions.
Previously, Oleksandr Usyk himself considered Crawford the best boxer in the world regardless of weight class.
Earlier, we reported how Usyk froze the race for heavyweight championship belts.
