Usyk - Fury: British finalize rematch decision
British boxer Tyson Fury has activated the rematch clause in the contract for the fight against undisputed heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk, according to journalist of talkSPORT Michael Benson on X.
The Gypsy King has exercised his option for a second bout against the Ukrainian champion. The decision of the 35-year-old Briton was confirmed by Top Rank promoter Bob Arum.
The official is confident about the rematch between Usyk and Fury. According to him, the second showdown between the heavyweights will also take place in the Saudi Arabian capital, Riyadh. The rematch is scheduled for late 2024 or early next year.
Earlier, the chairman of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority, Turki Al-Sheikh, identified October 12-13 as likely dates for the fight. The last hurdle for the second bout for the undisputed world champion title remains the International Boxing Federation (IBF), which could strip Usyk of his championship belt.
