The US has dismissed as fake reports in the American media that there is a split in President Donald Trump's team over the issue of ending the war in Ukraine, according to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US Vice President JD Vance.

Rubio calls the NBC News report on US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll's demands in Kyiv and the split in the Trump administration yet another "example of a long series of completely fake news stories.

"This story is just the latest example of a long-running series of 100% fake news reports claiming a rift inside the Trump administration over how to end the war in Ukraine. These people don’t just get things wrong, they literally make things up," he says.

Vance also reacts to the material, reposting Rubio's post and stating that "the media is lying."

"The media is lying in order to derail the president's agenda. It's really that simple," he says in his post.

Divide in White House?

According to NBC News, during his visit to Ukraine, Minister Driscoll warned Ukrainian officials in Kyiv that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were allegedly facing a difficult situation on the battlefield and were facing inevitable defeat by Russian troops.

Moreover, the agency reported that the Ukrainian issue had caused a conflict between two rival factions in the White House. One faction includes Vice President Vance and Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff, while the other includes Secretary of State Rubio.

The Vance-Witkoff faction plans to surrender Ukraine to the Russians, forcing Kyiv to agree to a peace deal. Meanwhile, Rubio's group and other politicians who take a more realistic position believe that pressure should be put on Russia. According to the agency, Trump himself has no opinion on the matter.
