US to join Ukraine Peace Summit in Switzerland, Biden's attendance uncertain
The United States will participate in the Ukraine Peace Summit, which will be held in Switzerland in June. However, it is unknown whether US President Joe Biden will attend, according to the White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
"We have actively participated in each of the previous Ukrainian peace summits. The US government was obviously engaged, and we will continue to be represented in the summit, including the upcoming one," she said.
When asked by the media, the press secretary stated that she did not have specific information about Biden's participation in the peace summit.
"It is important to continue to make sure that they (Ukraine) have all the capabilities that they need to defend themselves and also to secure a just and lasting peace," Karine Jean-Pierre added.
She emphasized the need to provide rapid support to Ukraine to prevent attacks, as occurred in Kharkiv on May 25 when Russians attacked the Epicenter where dozens of people were present.
Peace Summit
On June 15-16, the Ukraine Peace Summit will be held in Switzerland. Representatives from 50 countries have confirmed their participation in the summit.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy invited US President Joe Biden and Chinese leader Xi Jinping to the summit. So far, neither leader has confirmed their participation.
Zelenskyy stated that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will applaud if Biden does not attend the peace summit.
