US State Department comments on Trump's vice presidential candidate's position on Ukraine
The US State Department commented on the position of Donald Trump's vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance on Ukraine, according to US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller.
When asked if J.D. Vance's becoming Vice President threatens US-Ukraine relations, Miller responded that support for Ukraine comes from the US administration and the American people.
"They strongly support allowing Ukraine and helping Ukraine to defend itself against Russia's aggression," emphasized Miller.
He noted that "it's not just the American public, but it's bipartisan majorities in both houses of Congress."
Miller also pointed out that a significant majority in Congress voted for military aid in the supplemental funding bill vote.
Trump's vice presidential candidate
On July 15, Trump secured enough Republican votes to become the party's presidential candidate.
He also announced his vice-presidential candidate, Senator J.D. Vance, from Ohio.
It's worth noting that the EU is panicking over Vance's candidacy for Vice President. After Trump announced Vance as his vice presidential candidate, a senior EU official stated that "this is a disaster for Ukraine."
More details about Vance can be found in the RBC-Ukraine article.
