US Security Advisor on 'proximity talks' between Ukraine and Russia: Closer to peace than ever before

US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz has assessed the US talks with the delegations of Ukraine and Russia in Saudi Arabia and told what they will discuss, during an interview with CBS News.
"We're moving closer and we're closer to peace (peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia - ed.) than we ever have been," Waltz said.
According to the US National Security Advisor, it all started with conversations between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
"And now we have technical teams, actually, with Ukrainians and Russians at the same facility, conducting proximity talks," Waltz stated.
The US National Security Advisor said that at the talks in Saudi Arabia on March 24, they will discuss, among other things, the ceasefire in the Black Sea.
"We now going to talk about a Black Sea maritime ceasefire so that both sides can move grain fuel and start conducting trade again in the Black Sea," Waltz noted
After that, according to the US National Security Advisor, it is planned to discuss the front line, the issue of territories, and the achievement and maintenance of sustainable peace.
Meeting in Saudi Arabia
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently announced that on March 24, Ukrainian officials would meet again with American officials in Saudi Arabia. The meeting will be held at the level of technical teams. According to him, the US is scheduled to meet with Russia in Saudi Arabia on that day.
US Special Envoy to Ukraine Keith Kellogg said that the US would send teams to Saudi Arabia for proximity talks with Ukraine and Russia.
However, according to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi, Ukraine considers the next meeting in Saudi Arabia to be bilateral with US representatives. No contacts between the Ukrainian team and the Russians are expected.
And tonight, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said that a meeting between the delegations of Ukraine and the United States has already begun in Saudi Arabia. According to him, the parties are discussing proposals for the security of energy and infrastructure facilities.
