US President Donald Trump has stated that the US will destroy Iran’s power plants if Tehran does not open the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours, according to a post on his Truth Social platform.
According to Trump, the first to be hit will be the country’s largest power plant.
“If Iran doesn’t fully open, without threat, the Strait of Hormuz, within 48 HOURS from this exact point in time, the United States of America will hit and obliterate their various power plants, starting with the biggest one first,” the US president wrote.
About an hour earlier, Donald Trump stated that the US had erased Iran from the face of the earth and achieved its goals several weeks ahead of schedule.
“Yes I have, and weeks ahead of schedule! Their leadership is gone, their navy and air force are dead, they have absolutely no defense, and they want to make a deal. I don’t,” the American leader wrote on social media.
Strait of Hormuz
A few days ago, Donald Trump again declared victory over Iran and emphasized that the US does not need the Strait of Hormuz.
Yet just yesterday, the American commander, Admiral Brad Cooper, reported that the US had destroyed an Iranian radar base and observation posts that had been used to track tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. Now, he claims, shipping in the region will become safer.
As many as 22 countries have issued a joint statement saying they are ready to contribute to ensuring safe passage through the strait.
