US President Donald Trump has announced an extension of the ceasefire with Iran, according to his Truth Social.

Reason for extending the truce

According to Trump, Pakistan (Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif) asked the US to refrain from attacking Iran in order to give Iranian leaders time to develop a unified proposal.

"Upon the request of Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, of Pakistan, we have been asked to hold our Attack on the Country of Iran until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal," Trump wrote.

Iran refuses to negotiate

The previous truce was set to expire on April 22. The US had planned a new round of talks in Pakistan for tomorrow (April 22), but Iran has never publicly confirmed its participation even once.

State-run Iranian media are already reporting Tehran's final refusal to engage in dialogue, calling the negotiations a waste of time.

The first round of talks between the U.S. and Iran in Islamabad ended on April 12 without any significant results. According to Vice President JD Vance, the meeting lasted over 21 hours, but the sides failed to reach an agreement because Tehran did not provide solid guarantees of abandoning the creation of nuclear weapons.

On April 20, Donald Trump threatened an explosion of bombs if a deal was not reached. He emphasized that the US demands Iran give up its nuclear ambitions.

Tehran, for its part, stated that it does not recognize American ultimatums and will not hand over its enriched uranium to the US or any other country.
