US preparing to invade Cuba, CBS News reports

US military is actively preparing for potential action against Cuba. A US invasion could begin in the coming months, according to CBS News.
The US Army Reserve is considering assigning additional units to US Southern Command, including military police, medical personnel, and other support forces.
The plan could involve deploying these units over the next four months. According to journalists, an internal US Army document obtained by CBS News indicates this.
Cuba is not mentioned directly in the document. However, several US officials who spoke to journalists on condition of anonymity said the request is connected to further military planning regarding Cuba. They are not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
At the same time, the document contains no information about orders to deploy specific military units.
The planning is taking place amid President Donald Trump's increased economic pressure on Cuba and Washington's calls for political reforms on the island.
The request does not specify how many service members Southern Command, whose area of responsibility covers Central and South America as well as the Caribbean, might need. It is also unclear where exactly the forces could be sent or what potential operation they would support.
Nevertheless, the document mentions the possible formation of a military police brigade. Such formations typically coordinate military police units responsible for security, detention, and other law enforcement duties.
As previously reported, Trump said that the United States and Cuba would reach an agreement without military action.
However, the White House has never concealed that its goal is to bring about a change of government in Cuba.
