House Representative Don Bacon criticized US President Donald Trump for his reaction to Russia's report of an alleged attack by Ukrainian drones on the residence of Vladimir Putin, The Hill reports.

On Monday, December 29, the Republican from Nebraska said that the White House administration should first verify all the facts before making public conclusions. According to him, the Kremlin leader has repeatedly misled the world.

"President Trump and his team should get the facts first before assuming blame. Putin is a well known boldface liar," Bacon emphasized.

The congressman's statement came amid Trump's comments on reports from the Russian side about an alleged attack on the presidential residence in the Novgorod region. The US President said he was very angry about this information and called the possible attack inappropriate at this time.

At the same time, Trump acknowledged that evidence of Ukraine's involvement in the attack is currently being investigated. He also noted that the incident has affected the US approach to relations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
