US imposes sanctions on Russians supplying weapons from North Korea to Russia
The United States today, May 16, imposed sanctions on Russians who organized the supply of weapons from North Korea to Russia, according to the US Treasury Department.
The US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control has imposed sanctions on two Russian individuals and three Russian organizations for facilitating arms transfers between Russia and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, Brian Nelson says that the United States will continue to take steps to hold accountable those who try to facilitate the supply of weapons and other materials to allow Russia to wage war.
The sanctions list includes Rafael Gazaryan, the owner of Rafort LLC, Aleksey Budnev, the head of Tekhnologiya, OOO, as well as Trans Kapital LLC, Rafort, and Tekhnologiya companies.
DPRK helps Russia
After the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Russia began to receive military assistance from the DPRK, which publicly supported the decision of Vladimir Putin. The Russian army received artillery and ballistic missiles from North Korea.
At the same time, South Korean intelligence suspects that Russia could have received weapons manufactured in the 1970s from the DPRK.
